2nd Annual Wooly Willy Fundraiser |
We raised $950.01 at our 2nd Annual Wooly Willy Fundraiser thanks to the generosity of all who were present and some who donated from afar. Four congregations attended an inspirational and educational Palm Sunday worship. Then we headed downstairs for some potluck action to feed our bellies for a good time auctioning off Wooly Willies. This year, we had three female participants! (No cutting their hair; just crazy styling and coloring.) Another four boys rounded out our final number to seven and Bill Gardner was our auctioneer.
Here's the idea behind the fundraiser. We bring to life the game of yester-year, Wooly Willy, in which a bald guy on cardboard has lead shavings positioned all over his face and head. Our guys volunteer to be auctioned off and let their winning bidder do whatever they want to his hair! Then, we use the money to send youth who can't afford it to camp. These guys and gals are heroes!
Again, we had an incredibly fun and memorable time. Thanks AGAIN to all who so generously gave.
And thank you to Lexington for hosting four congregations this year!
"It was my first year taking party in wooly willy and it was a blast! It was so funny to see my hair afterwords and it felt awesome to know that I had raised so much money for camp!" ~ KG
